Are your kids ready for kindergarten? Join us for Playing to Learn, a five-week virtual program for kids ages 4 to 5. This free program will provide information and kindergarten readiness materials using resources from PBS KIDS and Sesame Street. A weekly parent Zoom meeting will introduce each week’s topic and weekly Storytime for kids followed by a parent share time.
There are three opportunities to engage with the program.
This program is for Kansas City Metropolitan area parents.

We will be creating 60 Exploration Kits that will be available via a drive thru pick up at Kansas City PBS 125 E. 31st St. KCMO 64108.
Families must register to pick up exploration kits from Kansas City PBS. Exploration kits include activities to guide nature observation and insect identification. Families can use these kits in their backyard, at a local park, or nature center to get out and get curious! Making careful observations inspires curiosity, scientific learning and attention to detail.

Join Kansas City PBS and Nico Giles Media for a free, public screening of the documentary “6 STREETS”, a film chronicling the creation of local street murals honoring the Black Lives Matter movement. Filming highlights the community organizations that made the project possible and celebrates the art activists whose creative interpretations of this profound moment in history are now commemorated in neighborhoods across Kansas City. Join the film’s producers, Nico Wiggins and Cody Boston for a Q&A following the screening.

Math and science are all around us! With the Kansas City PBS KIDS STEAM Kit, you and your child can explore science, technology, engineering, math, and the arts together.
Join our four-week series of hands-on and digital activities introducing science, technology, engineering, arts, and math concepts to parents, caregivers, and kids. Each week at home, your family will open a new STEAM packet found in your kit and work on an activity together in your home, supplemented by resources from Kansas City PBS.

Welcome to Kansas City PBS’s first Raising Readers workshop for the 2021-2022 year. LETRS for Early Childhood Educators on October 14 will be virtual. Registration is now open.
This session will provide an introduction to the research of Lucy Paulson and Louisa Moats called LETRS. Designed to empower teachers with an understanding of the what, why, and how involved with early literacy instruction and use this information to prepare young learners on their journey towards reading and writing. We will examine the foundations of literacy development and what early childhood professionals need to know.
