Our Little Neighbors: Building a Better World Together (Sesame Street in Communities)
In difficult or stressful circumstances, early childhood providers and caregivers play a vital role in modeling for young children how to manage big feelings and work through challenges. Early childhood professionals from the Kansas City area will present resources that can be used in the home or the classroom in the midst of the pandemic and beyond. Little Neighbors: Building a Better World Together virtual workshop on October 3, 2020, will offer strategies for parenting and encourage all of us to face the inevitable changes ahead with confidence and kindness.
The care and support of early childhood providers can make a huge difference in the life of a young child. Sesame Street in Communities has developed activities and tips to help children overcome adversity and thrive, with hundreds of bilingual multi-media tools to help kids and families enrich and expand their knowledge during the early years of birth through six, a critical window for brain development.
Plan to attend this free virtual workshop on October 3, 2020, at 8:30 am and earn 2 clock hours. Registration is required at events.kcpt.org. Learn about the free resources Sesame Street in Communities provides to early childhood providers and caregivers to support them in areas of health and wellness, social-emotional skills, school readiness, and more and how to use them with families and children ages 0-6.
Early childhood providers will earn two clock hours for Missouri and Kansas while learning more about the wonderful free resources on Sesame Street in Communities website.
*If you do not have a MOPD ID, go to OPEN Initiative to receive one. If you do not need one or you are a provider from Kansas just place a 0 in the blank on the registration page. Remember, to receive clock hours in Missouri you must have a MOPD ID#.

Plan to be signed in by 8:20 am on October 3, 2020, and we will begin at 8:30 am for our opening session. Make sure you turn off your microphone when you enter. You will be able to ask questions in the chatbox.
After the keynote, you will be placed in the first breakout room that you selected, and at 9:00 am session 1 will begin. When you enter your breakout room, type your name, workplace, MOPD#, and DVN#, if applicable, in the chatbox, located at the bottom of your screen. These numbers are necessary for clock hours. Both Kansas and Missouri attendees will receive a certificate of attendance. There will be a break from 10:00 am until 10:10 am. At 10:10 you will be placed in the second breakout room and session 2 will begin and conclude at 11:10 am. Closing, wrap up, and door prizes will conclude this workshop from 11:10 to 11:30 am. Remember, you must remain in each of your breakout rooms for the entire 60 minutes to earn your clock hours.
